The adage goes "Who doesn't like a good book ? ". What started as a rhetoric, is now a legitimate question. It is no secret that books have indeed taken a hit to other audiovisual forms of entertainment and content consumption. What was always a cure for ennui is becoming its cause.  Statistics would show that there is a sizeable population who would prefer doing something else than picking up a book, much to the chagrin of their parents and teachers.

Why is it so, do the books being written today, fail to encapsulate the present realities of the millennial generation ?  do they tackle themes too abstruse ?  or are books which are meant to be read and enjoyed of one's own volition, being forced down the gullet of students thereby marring the whole experience? Well, each of those questions needs a scientific answer and a much-nuanced prodding into. But the fact remains, that books open vistas for us, we cannot imagine. Those pages saw some of the brightest minds of our generation charting the same journey as you if you were to pick up that book. Isn't it an exciting prospect to be in a virtual book club with Bill Gates, undertaking the same journey as him, as both of you peruse through the same pages in a book. Apart from that too, books help us understand ourselves better, they hone our imagination and fire up that creative spark.

This blog is a part of my journey of discovering and rediscovering the wonderful phenomenon: Books. It is an effort to help other readers and those people looking for that one book to kickstart their reading.  Every week or so, I'd take you with me on a paperback trail all through the nooks and crannies and twists and turns; carefully subverting the spoilers mind you, for a wonderful journey

Though I don't consider myself qualified enough to pass conclusive reviews, I would surely share with you my experience of reading that book, what I thought of it, what sort of readers (for there are many) would enjoy picking up that book and investing a part of their pocket money in it.

Along with these, there would also be generic posts about the process of reading, why, in the 21st century, picking up a book matters all the more as knowledge is the only unifying currency. Like the blog, there is also a nascent Instagram channel (@thempaperbacktrails) which you should follow for the TLDR versions of the posts and other fun stuff

So hold up your reins, adjust those glasses as we leap headlong into this paperback trail one crispy page at a time

Happy Reading ✌
